SARETH’S JOURNEY
Phenrig sends his apprentice, Sareth, son of Isabel and Kha-Beleth, on a fateful journey to the city of Stonehelm. The young man, still unaware of his heritage, carries with him the Shantiri crystal that will allow Menelag to gain access to the Skull of Shadows. To guide and protect his charge, Phenrig binds a succubus, Xana, to Sareth’s soul. Sareth arrives at Stonehelm just ahead of an Undead army, led by Arantir himself. The Necromancers manage to infiltrate the city, murder Menelag, and steal the Shantiri crystal. With Xana urging him on, Sareth tracks the Necromancers and steals back the crystal.
With Leanna, Menelag’s niece, he sets sail for Redskull island. Together, they open the crypt containing the Skull of Shadows. Facing the Skull’s guardians, Sareth makes his way into the very heart of the tomb. There, he finds the precious relic and takes it, learning all at once his true nature and his true destiny. But Arantir has been chasing them since Stonehelm. He captures Leanna, attacks Sareth, leaving him for dead, and steals the Skull. Brought back to conscience by Xana, Sareth escapes Aratrok’s Orcs, and sails back to Stonehelm.
Once back in Stonehelm, Sareth finds the chaos of war around him. The Necromancer army has broken into the city, and he must fight his way to the sanctuary where Arantir plans to destroy the Skull. To shatter the relic, Arantir needs a tremendous amount of mystical energies. His solution is to sacrifice the citizens of Stonehelm in a sudden burst of destructive magic, and channel their souls into the Skull, to crack it open. But Sareth defeats Arantir before he can complete his ritual...
